"Investors in People" - First Theatre Award in Scotland ...
Festival City Theatres Trust (FCTT) is delighted to announce it has been granted the prestigious Investors in People award. Confirmation of the award was received in December 2000 and the award ceremony will take place today, Friday 23 February.
The award is recognition of the achievements set in motion by the late Stephen Barry at both the King’s and Festival Theatres in Edinburgh. This award is particularly exciting as it is the first of its kind to be granted to a Theatre organisation in Scotland.
The award is granted to organisations that have proved to have "invested" in and believe in the value of their staff, their performance and their contribution to the success of the business.
The first steps towards achieving Investors in People status were taken shortly after the merger, in July 1998, of the King’s and Festival Theatres into the new company Festival City Theatres Trust, when the plans for the future were developed. The vision itself was directed by Stephen Barry with the assistance of the Management Team, Staff and support of the Board, however the Business Improvement Programme workshops provided by Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothian gave the company the framework to build upon achieving the award.
Brian Loudon, Planning & Personnel Manager, FCTT comments:
"Achieving Investors in People recognition gives us a significant benchmark to work from. We became involved in a development programme one year before going for recognition and are very proud of what has been achieved. We look forward to being able to build on this success."
David Crichton, Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothian, said:
"People are at the very heart of the performing arts, from front of house, to production and on-stage. The achievement of Investors in People status by Festival City Theatres Trust shows that the initiative is relevant to those organisations and companies in the arts and culture who want to improve their business performance."
